Successful Taiga Adventure Camps

Thank you to everyone, including our fabulous campers who made this Summer’s Taiga adventure camps a success.

The Fort McPherson (July 5-10th) land camp provided an opportunity for campers to learn from Elder, Mary Effie Snowshoe about her camp, land and culture. The participants fished with nets, prepared, smoked and dried fish, participated in sewing crafts, nature hike, story telling as well as learned on the land survival skills.

July 17-27th saw campers and staff paddle an incredible journey over 170 kilometres from Inuvik to the Arctic Ocean. Crossing the tree line, camping with eagles, experiencing the sun, wind, rain and bugs of the tundra, all participants including staff were transformed by the magic of the Mackenzie Delta and awesomeness of the Sea. Taiga Camp would like to thank hospitality of all families along the river who welcomed them warmly on this amazing adventure.
